Natural substance luteolin

Effective protection against working substances and free radicals

Hands that are under a lot of strain at work need particularly comprehensive protection - even more so if the skin is already overstressed and irritated. The innovative PROTEXSAN® skin protection cream protects sensitive or extremely stressed hands in a particularly effective way. It contains no emulsifiers and regenerates the skin barrier with skin-related ceramides and a new lamellar structure that is modeled on the structure of the epidermis.

The cream also uses the antioxidant properties of the natural substance luteolin to effectively counteract aggressive oxygen radicals. And: PROTEXSAN® not only protects working hands from the occupational substances they come into contact with every day. The luteolin it contains also reduces the risk of inflammation caused by the formation of free radicals.

The natural substance luteolin is extracted from the medicinal plant Reseda luteola and is one of the most effective antioxidants in the plant kingdom. Luteolin protects sensitive or extremely stressed skin not only from free radicals, but also from irritation caused by irritating and potentially allergenic substances. Luteolin also has an anti-inflammatory effect, absorbs UV radiation and promotes the formation of collagen.

In the eye of science

Dermatologically proven protective effect of luteolin

As part of a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics, an innovative skin protection cream containing luteolin was developed at the University Dermatology Clinic in Freiburg. Prof. Dr. C. Schempp and Prof. Dr. W. Gehirng concluded that luteolin can effectively protect human skin. The dermatologists attribute the excellent protective effect of the natural substance to “a combination of UV-absorbing, DNA-protective, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and extracellular matrix-protecting properties”1 .

In a repetitive washing test at the University Skin Clinic in Freiburg, the PROTEXSAN skin protection cream with luteolin showed a superior protective effect - even in comparison with other products. PROTEXSAN was the only product to even improve the moisture content of the horny layer during the test period.2
