EU Ecolabel for skin care cream Physioderm Curea from PGP
Skin protection manufacturer Peter Greven Physioderm (PGP) has been focusing for years on sustainable products that are just as good for the skin as they are for the environment. Now the skin care cream Physioderm Curea in the normal and fragrance-free versions has become the first leave-on product from a German manufacturer to be awarded the EU Ecolabel for cosmetic products in accordance with the current award criteria. The coveted label is intended to enable consumers to quickly identify environmentally friendly and healthy products.
Sustainable products are playing an increasingly important role in occupational skin protection. “Consumers want products that have as little impact as possible on their skin and the environment,” says Anja Dick, Head of Development and Regulatory Affairs at Euskirchen-based skin protection manufacturer Peter Greven Physioderm. Independent labels are an important compass when selecting sustainable products. PGP is therefore delighted that the skin care cream Physioderm Curea, in the normal and fragrance-free versions, is now the first leave-on product from a German manufacturer to be awarded the EU Ecolabel for cosmetic products in accordance with the current award criteria.
The EU Ecolabel shows a stylized flower with a blossom of twelve stars surrounding the Greek letter “e” for Europe. This is why the EU Ecolabel is also known as the Euroflower. The European Commission awards the label to products and services that have a lower impact on the environment than comparable products and services. The EU Ecolabel is recognized in all 27 EU member states as well as in Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. This makes the Euroblume a reference for consumers throughout Europe who want to promote sustainable production and environmentally friendly products.
Physioderm Curea is a slightly greasy cream for skin care. The cream's lamellar emulsion base ensures a low wash-out effect due to its chemical composition and physical properties. This preserves the skin's own barrier structure. The cream enjoys a high level of acceptance among users all year round. However, skin care is particularly important in the cold season. At temperatures below 8°C, the skin produces less of its own oil. “However, the skin needs the fat to be able to fulfill its protective function,” explains expert Anja Dick from PGP. A lack of oil, on the other hand, quickly becomes noticeable in the form of dry and cracked skin. The skin is at risk of losing its natural barrier function - it becomes susceptible to mechanical, physical, chemical and bacterial influences. With Physioderm Curea, users can counteract the loss of fat - and do something good for their skin and the environment.
